NBC reality format makes it to Finland

NBC’s original version of DIY reality series Making It

MIPCOM: Discovery Finland’s TV5 will air the first international version of US network NBC’s reality series Making It.

NBCUniversal International Formats has signed a deal with prodco Rabbit Films for a 10×60’ adaptation, which will also air on streaming service Dplay. The deal was announced here in Cannes.

The series sees people take on a variety of projects revolving around key themes and drawing inspiration from trends in crafting and DIY. Each episode consists of two challenges, which will allow contestants to demonstrate their talents whilst sharing their experiences and DIY stories.

Originally produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, in association with Paper Kite Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment, the US version is fronted by hosts and executive producers Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. It will return for a second season later this year.

Jonathan Tuovinen, head of international at Rabbit Films, said: “The moment that we saw the US version of Making It we knew we just had to make the local adaptation for Finland. It’s such a wonderful format about a contemporary topic that has a really warm atmosphere to it. We are happy to continue our relationship with both NBCUniversal and Discovery Finland with this great series filled with humour.”
