Nat Geo walks Long Road Home

National Geographic Partners is working on a scripted miniseries based on New York Times bestseller The Long Road Home.

Nat Geo is partnering with Mike Medavoy and Ways and Means Productions on the show, with critically acclaimed screenwriter Mikko Alanne tapped to adapt the survival tale.

The Long Road Home is based on events in April 2004 when a Texan platoon was ambushed in Baghdad on what became known as Black Sunday. The soldiers were forced to fight for their survival over the course of more than eight hours while their families at home desperately waited for news.

Nat Geo has previously broken its ratings records with factual drama through its Killing strand, which has so far included Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus, with Killing Patton now in the works.
