Nat Geo preps Boston bombing special

National Geographic Channel in the US has greenlit a two-hour special to mark the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers will premiere on Sunday April 13 at 21.00 (ET/PT) and then roll out globally on National Geographic Channel in 171 countries and 45 languages later that month.

The doc will use first person testimony and dramatic re-enactment to tell the story of the terrorist attacks at the finish line of last year’s Boston Marathon which left three people dead.

The incident was followed by one of the largest man hunts in American history which came to a dramatic conclusion live on rolling news channels.

The special is being produced by the UK’s Raw TV, which previously worked on Locked Up Abroad and American Blackout for Nat Geo. The director is Sam Hobkinson and the executive producers are Louise Norman and Robert Palumbo.

In related news, Nat Geo is also gathering together some of the leading war generals in the US military for a look at the history of the US army from the Vietnam War to the present day.

Two-hour special American War Generals will air in the US and across Nat Geo’s international channel, taking a look back at half a century of American military battles with the men who led them.

The show is from Towers Productions with Tresha Mabile, Peter Bergen, Char Serwa and Jonathan Towers executive producing.
