Nat Geo has 4 Babies a Second

National Geographic Channels International has picked up an observational doc series about birth for fledgling net Nat Geo People, via a deal with Zodiak Rights.

4 Babies a Second is a 10×60’ production from French prodco Pernel Media, in which parents share their first precious moments across the four continents as four babies are born every second.

Through the eyes of staff in four maternity wards on four different continents, the series explores how economics, legislation, religion and culture contribute to the experience of birth.

Nat Geo People has acquired the series for all territories except North America and France.

The female-skewing network launched in 50 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific earlier this year.

Jules Oldroyd, senior VP of programming and strategic development acquired the series for Nat Geo People while the exec producer for Pernel Media is Samuel Kissous. Zodiak Rights has worldwide distribution rights to the series.
