Nat Geo extends Breakthrough

National Geographic Channel (NGC) in the US has greenlit a second season of anthology show Breakthrough from executive producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.

The series, executive produced by Imagine Entertainment and Asylum Entertainment, is slated to air in spring across NGC’s networks in 171 countries and in 45 languages, as well as on the Spanish-language network Nat Geo Mundo.

It will again explore the work of leading scientists and how their cutting-edge innovations and advancements will change lives in the immediate future and beyond.

Tim Pastore, NGC’s president of original programming and production, said the show would “address the challenges facing us today and shines a spotlight on the trailblazing scientists and engineers around the globe who are pushing the frontiers of innovation and exploration.”

Executive producers include Grazer, Howard, Michael Rosenberg, Steve Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Ryann Lauckner and Kurt Sayenga. Kevin Tao Mohs is exec producer for National Geographic Channel.
