My Life is Murder planted at Acorn TV

My Life is Murder will star Lucy Lawless

North American streamer Acorn TV has picked up the US rights to drama series My Life is Murder from distributor DCD Rights.

The drama follows an investigator played by Lucy Lawless as she tackles both crime and life’s frustrations in Melbourne. The series is produced by Australian outfit CJZ for Network 10 with investment from Film Victoria in association with Screen Australia.

It is written by Peter Gawler (Wolf Creek), Tim Pye (The Doctor Blake Mysteries), Ainslie Clouston (Playing for Keeps), Matt Ford (Farscape), Monica Zanetti (Sisters) and Paul Bennett (House of Hancock). Lawless also serves an exec producer on the drama.

RLJ Entertainment-owned Acorn TV acquired the drama in a pre-sale through DCD Rights, with My Life is Murder set to make its debut on the SVoD platform following its broadcast on Ten in 2019.

“My Life is Murder is a well-crafted and compelling mystery series that our subscribers will surely love,” said Shannon Cooper, director of programming for Acorn brands at RLJ Entertainment. “With the success of Jack Irish and Rake on Acorn TV, we’re happy to be working with DCD Rights on another high-quality production.”

“We continue to see high demand worldwide for our premium scripted content,” said Nicky Davies Williams, CEO at DCD Rights. “A US acquisition is a great start as we begin rolling the series out to our international clients alongside our ever-expanding scripted portfolio.”
