My Entertainment hires development exec

New York-based producer My Entertainment (fka My Tupelo Entertainment) has appointed reality producer Wilson Surratt as its new senior VP of development.

Surratt will now direct My Entertainment’s development slate, which includes a mix of homegrown content and overseas formats.

The exec is the owner of South of Broad Productions, the New York-based indie that he founded in 2009 to produce content for cable, broadband and international networks.

Over the course of his career, he has launched and helmed shows for CNN, CNBC and Tribune Broadcasting.

The appointment comes after Michael Yudin, My Entertainment founder and president, took full ownership of the company by acquiring US station group Raycom Media’s stake in My Tupelo Entertainment in March.

The joint venture was established in 2012 when Raycom Media acquired the assets of Tupelo-Honey Productions. Prior to that My Entertainment created a joint venture with Tupelo Honey Productions, rebranding as My Tupelo Entertainment, in January 2008.

As a result of the most recent re-organisation, the company has reverted to its original name, My Entertainment.

Among the titles currently in development at My Entertainment are adventure docuseries The Mikey Kay Project and reality show Holy Matrimony.

Meanwhile, Waka/Nordic World’s holiday adventure format Away with Strangers is also in the pipeline, along with a TV version of the New York Times best-selling travel book 1000 Places To See Before You Die.

Also on the development slate is a new show based on the website diedinhouse.com, executive produced by Ghost Adventures creator Zac Bagans.

Its current productions include the 10th season of Ghost Adventures, the fifth run of Baggage Battles and the first season of Aftershock.
