Murray returns to IWC

Zodiak Media-owned Scottish production outfit IWC Media has brought back former exec Paul Murray as head of formats to lead its ambitious plans for the genre.

Murray is leaving DCD-owned prodco Matchlight, where he was creative director, after just 10 months.

Murray started his production career at IWC, working on the original pilot and first season of hit Channel 4 property series Location, Location, Location.

Prior to Matchlight, Murray was head of All3Media’s Objective Scotland from 2011, working on shows including C4’s The Secret Removers. He also had a stint as creative director at STV Productions, where he created BBC daytime show Antiques Road Trip.

In his newly created role, Murray will now generate formats for IWC Media across its specialist factual, documentary and features slate, and will spearhead development into factual entertainment, feeding into Zodiak Media’s international catalogue.

In 2009, IWC hired Ian Lamarra, from Tiger Aspect Productions, to fill the similar position of head of development for global formats, before he left to set up Alaska TV with Paul Sommers and Chris Fouracre in 2011.
