Mun2 takes fighting reality series

Telemundo’s youth-skewing Spanish language cablenet Mun2 has ordered a new competition reality series from Bunim/Murray.

The US cablenet has commissioned Combate Americas, a 10-part series from the Banijay-owned prodco that will follow 10 professional Hispanic mixed martial arts fighters as they compete to win a spot in the new Combate Americas competition.

The series was created by Campbell McLaren, co-founder of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and CEO of Combate Americas. It is being produced by BMP Latin, the Hispanic division of Bunim/Murray Productions which launched in January to produce youth skewing Hispanic unscripted and scripted programming.

Executive Producers include Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein, Gabriela Cocco-Sanchez, Julio Caro and Melissa Bidwell at BMP Latin; Campbell McLaren; as well as Luisa Varona, VP of programming, and Margie Moreno, VP of programming and development, at Mun2.

The show will premiere in early 2014.
