MTV reboots Clone High with Oscar-winners

Clone High aired on MTV for a single season in 2002

ViacomCBS-owned US cablenet MTV has partnered with Oscar-winning animators Phil Lord and Chris Miller to produce the reboot of animated series Clone High.

MTV Studios and showrunner Erica Rivinoja will produce the new series, which follows prominent historical figures who have been cloned and placed back in high school, including Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and John F Kennedy.

Rivinoja was a writer on the original series, which aired on MTV for a single season of 13 episodes in 2002. She will co-write the reboot pilot with Lord and Miller. Original co-creator Bill Lawrence is also on board the series.

Miller and Lord recently received a straight-to-series order from Apple for an original murder mystery series. The pair won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2019 for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
