Jakob Mejlhede Andersen becomes exec VP of programming and content development and will join the MTG executive management team immediately.

He is responsible for acquisitions, programming and development for MTG’s pay TV businesses in the Nordic region, the company’s free-to-air networks and its online services. Mejlhede Andersen will also oversee format acquisitions and the arrangement of coproductions.

Mejlhede Andersen joined MTG in 2005 and was most recently senior VP of acquisitions and programming, working as chief content officer for the group’s digital accelerator programme MTGx a year ago.

He said his new role would involve working across platforms “to explore how we develop and utilise our world-class content portfolio in as smart a way as possible… to be the leading digital entertainment house in each of our markets.”

MTG has been busy over recent months, selling two of its networks in Hungary, cutting jobs at its Swedish operations and dealing with recent regulatory changes in Russia.
