MTG busy on Eastern front

Swedish media conglom Modern Times Group (MTG) is building its presence in Russia with the launch of pay-TV channel TV1000.

The specialised movie channel is already available in 250k Baltic and Russian homes as part of the premium package on the Viasat direct-to-home satellite platform. MTG is now debuting the channel in Russia, the Baltics, Moldavia, Belorussia and Georgia on local and national cable networks.

With 500k subscribers in Scandinavia, TV1000 is a 24-hour service and broadcasts a mixture of local content and international movies.
