Motion Content, CHCH team for int’l drama

Motion Content Group and CHCH have worked together on Wynonna Earp

GroupM-owned content investment and rights management company Motion Content Group (MCG) and Canadian independent broadcaster CHCH have linked up to create original drama for the international market.

The partnership will see the two companies jointly select Canadian projects to be developed, produced and distributed worldwide. They will work directly with writers as well as third-party producers to secure premium returnable series.

MCG and CHCH have previously worked together on series The Pinkertons and Wynonna Earp. The new initiative will be led by Jennifer Chen, VP of programming at CHCH, and Tony Moulsdale, global director of programming for MCG.

CHCH produces more than 24 hours of original local news programming each week and features a primetime line-up of movies, news magazine shows and dramas in Ontario.

MCG was set up by global advertising giant GroupM last year to invest in and partner with talent, producers and distributors on projects.

The business, which is based in London and LA, is run by Richard Foster and also supports GroupM-owned WPP’s strategic investments in Imagine Entertainment, The Weinstein Company, Media Rights Capital and MediaPro.
