Moominvalley rolls out around Nordics

Gutsy Animations’ reboot Moominvalley

NRK in Norway and RÚV in Iceland are the latest two international broadcasters to have picked up Gutsy Animations’ reboot of classic kids’ title The Moomins.

Moominvalley (13×22’) is being shopped internationally by French distributor PGS Entertainment, which recently announced a slew of sales to global pubcasters.

The show has been picked up in Norway and Iceland, while a pan-Nordics agreement has been closed with SF Studios, making it available via the company’s SF Kids SVoD platform in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

In Norway, Moominvalley season one will launch in the autumn on NRK Super, when the series will also be available on NRK Super TV and NRK TV. The series will debut in Iceland on RÚV.

Commissioned by YLE in Finland, Sky in the UK and NHK in Japan, Moominvalley is directed by Steve Box (Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) and is based on Tove Jansson’s novels and comic strips.

It features an all-star voice cast, including Kate Winslet, Rosamund Pike, Taron Egerton and Matt Berry.

The series is the creation of creative director and executive producer Marika Makaroff, Box, producer John Woolley and Louise Holmes, plus scriptwriters Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler (Peter Rabbit).

The second instalment of the show’s second season premiered on Sky1 and Sky Kids in the UK over the Easter weekend.
