Monster brings Murakami doc to Cannes

A documentary about the dramatic childhood of the late animator and director Jimmy Murakami is among the programming set to be presented by Irish firm Monster at MipTV.

Jimmy Murakami: Non Alien (1×60′) sees the legendary Japanese-American animator, who directed When the Wind Blows and seasonal special The Snowman, return to the Tule Lake concentration camp in the Californian desert where he spent time during World War II. Murakami died at the age of 80 in February this year.

Also among Monster’s slate at MipTV this year is Ferramonti: The Hidden Concentration Camp, which investigates the primary concentration camp of the Italian fascist regime during WWII.

Elsewhere, Monster will present Video Killed the Radio Star, previous episodes of which have aired on Sky Arts UK, ABC in Australia, MTV Latin America, Musique Plus in Canada and Sky Arte in Italy. The new season features a one hour tribute to rock star Lou Reed, who died in October last year.
