Mongolia hears The Voice

Mongolian broadcaster NTN has commissioned a local version of talent format The Voice, meaning the show will join the likes of Got Talent and Gogglebox with local versions in the country.

The deal with the format’s creator and distributor Talpa marks the broadcaster’s first for a “major international” show, according to the Dutch company.

The show will air on the National Times News Media Group-owned channel this year and brings the number of local productions of The Voice worldwide close to 60.

Bulgan Bayasgalant, CEO of The National Times News Media Group, said: “It was high time we brought world-class content to Mongolia. We strongly believe The Voice will satisfy the needs of the Mongolian viewers.”

International formats are increasingly finding homes in Mongolia, in particular with Mongol TV, which relaunched its programming, original production and live production studios in February 2013.

Since then it has brought its viewers a local version of FremantleMedia and Syco Entertainment’s Got Talent format, while Studio Lambert’s Gogglebox is also set to be remade in the Asian country.
