Mondo, Toon2Tango dance with Maniacs

Monster Loving Maniacs comes from JA Film and Ginger Pictures

European producer and distributor Mondo TV has boarded a forthcoming Super RTL animated kids’ comedy coproduction from Germany’s Toon2Tango.

Mondo TV has acquired a 20% stake in Monster Loving Maniacs and will jointly distribute the show worldwide with Toon2Tango. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

The news comes as Munich-based Toon2Tango and Mondo TV Group, based in Rome and with companies in France, Switzerland, Spain and Latin America, have agreed to develop at least eight new animated TV series in the next four years.

Monster Loving Maniacs, a 52×11′ gender-neutral adventure comedy, has been created by JA Film, a full-service production company specialised in animation, visual effects and motion graphics, and Ginger Pictures, a Benelux-based production house.

It is produced in 2D for six- to nine-year-olds and focuses on three kids who are being trained as monster hunters by their tough old grandfather, who has spent many years in the business. The series is currently in production and was pre-bought by German broadcaster Super RTL earlier this year.

Toon2Tango was set up last year by animation veterans Jo Daris and Hans Ulrich Stoef.
