Mipcom 2015 to honour Turkey

MIPCOM: Turkey will be the Country of Honour at Mipcom in 2015, organiser Reed Midem announced in Cannes today.

The Eurasian country has grown a significant drama production business in recent years with its scripted shows airing in more than 100 territories worldwide.

Exports of Turkish drama currently exceed US$150m a year, with shows like Ottoman Empire costume drama Magnificent Century, now in a fourth season, cutting through with international audiences.

More recently, the country, with its population of 76 million, has become a fresh source of adaptable formats.

Mipcom 2015, which will take place in Cannes from October 5 to 8, will feature a series of conferences with Turkish industry figures, screenings showcasing the latest programmes from the region and networking events.

Mexico is the Country of Honour at this year’s event.
