Mike Young swaps Martians for pigs

LA-based cgi producer Mike Young Productions, which gave the world Butt Ugly Martians, has partnered with London's Entara to coproduce a new preschool series about a family of Irish pigs.

The Curly Tales of Piggley Winks is a (26×26') series based on the stories by the Irish writer Denise Fitzpatrick. Irish actor Colm Meaney has been signed to voice the part of Grandpa Piggley, whose tales to his four urban grandchildren are the backdrop to the animated adventures.

Grandpa Piggley's anecdotes bring to life various other characters like Young Piggley, Fitzer the Pig, Dannan the Duck and a smart female leprechaun called Cobble.

{The Irish are famous for their oral story-telling,{ said Young, a Welshman. {It's a tradition shared by cultures all over the world but in today's fast-paced society it's in decline. This series will keep alive this important connection between older and younger generations.{

MYP and Entara will unveil the show down at Cannes in April.
