Middlechild adds BBC’s Ralph

UK-based Middlechild Productions has appointed a commissioner from the BBC to head its newly created digital department.

Matt Ralph

Matt Ralph becomes head of digital at Middlechild having previously been assistant digital commissioning editor for BBC Factual. During his time there, he commissioned original digital content for channels, seasons and campaigns, including Plastics Watch, launched by Sir David Attenborough.

Ralph, who also worked on BBC3’s move online, has a remit to expand Middlechild’s reach into the digital arena.

Middlechild MD David Sumnall said: “It’s the fastest-growing area of the industry and it would be remiss of us not to move into that space, and in Matt we have the perfect person to make it happen.

“The new team is looking to win digital-first content commissions for digital broadcasters, as well as being able to offer a number of agency-based digital services to market.”

The London-based indie is best known for its returning Channel 5 series The Dog Rescuers.
