MGM Television is set to develop and produce US and UK versions of Danish quiz format The Five Senses, which was originally created and produced by Monday Media’s Palle Strom.

The adaptation comes via a multi-year deal between MGM and Monday Media that will also see the US studio’s global formats and unscripted content division distribute the Danish format exclusively worldwide.

The Five Senses, known in Denmark as Dine fulde fem, pits teams of celebrities against each other as they use each of their five senses to advance in the game and bring as many of their senses into the final round to raise money for charity.

The show just finished its first season on TV2 in Denmark and has been renewed for a second season that will air in 2021.

The deal sees MGM’s formats and unscripted content division, led by Scot Cru, executive VP of global formats and unscripted content, continue to expand its catalogue of IP via acquisitions.

“Palle is one of the most prolific content creators in the business. When we came across this format, we knew it was a funny twist on a typical quizshow and are thrilled to be partnered with them to roll this out worldwide,” said Cru.
