MGM promotes in EMEA

Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) has made a series of promotions in its distribution team in EMEA.

Deblina Chakrabarty

Deblina Chakrabarty, Guro Viddal and Shaila Chopra have all become VPs of international television distribution in the region.

Chakrabarty and Viddal, who both joined MGM in 2012, are based in London and report to Alex Peschak, senior VP of international television distribution in EMEA.

Chakrabarty oversees distribution of all television media in Africa, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, the Middle East, Portugal and Spain, and has been responsible for output deals with OSN in the Middle East and NOS in Portugal.

Viddal will continue to oversee distribution in Italy, Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey. She has previously secured output agreements with Sky Italia in Italy and Showmax in Poland.

Chopra, who joined MGM in 2015 having worked at Pokémon, WME and Pixar, is based in LA and reports to Paul Bischoff, exec VP of international television distribution, with a remit to support EMEA sales strategies.

MGM Television Distribution is responsible for licensing the studio’s library, which boasts shows including The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo and Vikings, plus movies from the James Bond and Rocky franchises.

MGM restructured its worldwide television distribution team last year, with execs including Bischoff securing promotions.

The restructure followed the film studio’s acquisitions of US pay TV network Epix and Real Housewives producer Evolution Media to strengthen its TV arm over the past 12 months.
