Metropolis’s Ellis joins Cartel

US-based production and management company The Cartel has hired a 17-year entertainment industry veteran from The Metropolis Agency.

Matthew Ellis has been appointed as a manager and brings a roster of writers, directors, producers and artists specialising in animation and children’s programming to The Cartel.

Ellis spent 13 years as a talent agent at Metropolis, where he was responsible for the representation of IP and staffing. Prior to that, he was an agent at The Irv Schechter Company, where he focused on animation and children’s content.

During his time in the sector Ellis has sold projects to Aardman Animation, Cartoon Network, DHX Media, Disney, Disney Jr, The Jim Henson Company, Nickelodeon, NBC, Saban, Sprout, Spinmaster, Rainmaker and Warner Bros Animation, among others. Titles include Pet Alien, Jim Henson’s Pajanimals, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Crowning Jules.

Ellis’s current roster of clients includes Shea Fontana (DC Super Hero Girls, Wonder Woman, Dorothy From Oz), Amy Keating Rogers (The Powerpuff Girls, Care Bears), and Doug Wood (Tree Fu Tom, Floogals, Bob the Builder, Enchantimals). He will be based in The Cartel’s LA office.

The Cartel also recently announced a new animated comedy series called Twelve Forever, from writer-producer Julia Vickerman, which will launch on Netflix in 2019.
