Menzel to lead Epix distribution

US cable network Epix has appointed a Discovery Communications executive to oversee distribution and partnerships.

Courtney Menzel

Courtney Menzel has been named executive VP of content distribution and partnerships at the broadcaster. She will be responsible for determining the channel’s distribution strategy across all platforms.

Menzel, who was senior VP of distribution and partner marketing at Discovery, previously worked at Epix in 2009 as head of distribution and marketing.

She held similar posts at MTV Networks, where she worked for 14 years, and Current Media, which she joined in 2010, overseeing carriage agreements and multiplatform distribution. Menzel will now report to Monty Sarham, executive VP and general manager at Epix.

Earlier this week Epix appointed a former head of TV business affairs at Creative Artists Agency to oversee business agreements related to its original programming.

The cablenet also recently appointed Nancy Cotton as executive VP for original programming, reporting to Epix president Michael Wright, who joined the company late last year. Cotton replaced Joselyn Diaz, who left in January, shortly after the arrival of Wright.

MGM became the sole owner of the network last year after buying out the stakes held by Viacom and Lionsgate.
