Mendelsohn swaps Sony for Universal

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation co-creator Carol Mendelsohn has left Sony Pictures Television (SPT) after agreeing an overall deal with Universal Television.

Mendelsohn decided not to renew her overall deal with SPT, where she has been for the past four years, having developed multiple pilots with the studio and one series – NBC’s Game of Silence – which ran for one season.

Under the multi-year overall deal with Universal Television, Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz, also of Carol Mendelsohn Productions, will create and develop new projects for the studio.

Mendelsohn’s credits also include multiple spin-offs to long-running hit series CSI, namely CSI: NY, CSI: Miami and CSI: Cyber.

“Writer/producers of the calibre of Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz don’t come along that often and I am proud they have chosen to call Universal Television home,” said Universal Television president Pearlena Igbokwe.
