Border Republic is the name of the first project to emerge from the agreement and will go into production early next year.

The story is set in the cities of Matamoros and Brownsville as US president Donald Trump’s infamous border wall is constructed.

Although it is a scripted series, the companies have said it will feature the “narrative imprint” and visual style of Vice’s trademark documentaries.

Andrés Reymondes, CEO for Vice Lat Am and US Hispanic, said it was the first of many scripted projects that would be developed from Vice Studios Lat Am in the coming years.
