Mears doc takes Drive to Mipcom

British survival expert Ray Mears in Wilder Australia

Drive Media Rights, the distribution arm of London-based production funding agency Drive, has revealed its factual slate for Mipcom, led by a documentary series starring survivalist Ray Mears.

Coproduction specialist Drive moved into distribution a year ago and has recently been shopping a 90-minute special on the life of Diana Princess of Wales to international broadcasters.

Its slate for Mipcom next month includes Wilder Australia (7×30’), which was orginally produced by Tin Can Island for ITV in the UK and sees Mears undertake a series of mini expeditions through the Australian landscape.

Body Cam Cops (6×30’) makes use of the growing trend for police forces around the world to wear body cameras while on duty, using the footage to shine a light on the often extraordinary situations officers face day to day.

Body Cam Cops has already been sold into countries including the UK, US and Germany

Drive has already sealed a deal with Discovery for the series and it will now air on Quest in the UK, DMAX in Germany and Discovery across CEEMEA, Latin America and Hispanic US.

In addition, three one-off hour-long docs are available.

The Nazi Who Hid Jews, from Canada’s AP Ltd is available for pre-sale ahead of delivery in March next year and tells the story of an officer, engineer and Nazi Party member who saved hundreds of Jews from the Vilna Ghetto. Growing up Gay, from Antidote Productions for BBC3, and Titanic: The New Evidence, from Blink Films for Channel 4, are also available.

Two seasons of The World’s Deadliest Drivers from Back2Back Productions complete the new releases for this market.
