MBC samples Globo’s Formula

Middle Eastern broadcaster MBC Group has picked up two limited series and a telenovela from Brazil’s Globo.

The first limited series is new romantic comedy The Formula, written by Mauro Wilson and Marcelo Saback and directed by Flavia Lacerda and Patricia Pedrosa. It sees a scientist create a substance that allows her to transform into a younger version of herself.

The other, Doomed, is written by George Moura, Sergio Goldenberg, Flávio Araújo and Teresa Frota. It is set in north-east Brazil and first aired in the country in 2014. Both series will be dubbed in Arabic.

Telenovela Rising Sun has also been acquired by MBC. The show, written by Walther Negrão, Suzana Pires and Júlio Fischer, takes place in a fictional resort town that reflects Brazil’s cultural and ethnical melting pot.

MBC picked up two other dramas from Globo in February.
