Matt Hatter lands in France

MIPCOM: French broadcaster Lagardère Active has bought boys’ adventure-comedy series Matt Hatter Chronicles from UK producer-distributor Platinum Films.

Seasons one and two of the CGI animated series premiered on Lagardère’s pay channel Canal J in September and will be followed by a window on the group’s free-to-air net Gulli in spring 2015, as well as its web service.

Lagardère is also backing the series through its TV magazine Gulli Magazine, its entertainment park Gulli Parc and events.

The series already airs on CiTV in the UK, RTÉ in Ireland, Clan TV in Spain, Canal Panda in Portugal and Spain, Rai Gulp in Italy and Disney XD in Benelux.

Additionally, master toy partner Simba Dickie Group’s French arm Smoby France is launching a Matt Hatter toy range in 2015 targeting 5-10s.

The 39×22’ series centres on a 13-year-old schoolboy who discovers his family defends a gateway to a new dimension. It is produced by Platinum Films and Toronto-based Dream Mill.
