Inspired by the first Swedish UN battalion in Bosnia in 1993, we follow four young soldiers on their first overseas service in the tangled and bloody conflict in the Balkans. The mission proves impossible to solve by peaceful means alone. They are accompanied by their battalion commander, who is torn between the desire to intervene and the duty to follow orders. This is a story of moral dilemmas, human brutality, but also friendship, love, and trust forged under the most extreme circumstances.

It’s inspired by true events and Magnus Ernström’s novel  ‘A Half Year, an Entire Life’. Ernström himself was one of the soldiers in this battalion, giving the series an authentic deeply personal perspective on the Bosnian War
