Rheinstadt, Germany. Scientist Petra and progressive mayor Amir are the driving forces behind an ambitious but controversial new rehabilitation programme named TRUST, which aims to close the local correctional facility and reintegrate its inmates into society. But when the prisoners are released, they face prejudice and rejection everywhere they turn, clashing with those in the city who hope to see the project fail. While the scientists and social workers involved in TRUST are doing everything in their power to make the new programme a success, the victims, and their families – haunted by fear and trauma – find themselves torn between forgiveness and a desire for justice. Will this be a fresh start for Rheinstadt’s society, or will it lead to complete anarchy?
