Shooting in Spain is a brand of ICEX-Invest in Spain, a public entity tasked with promoting and retaining foreign direct investment in Spain. Through Shooting in Spain, we focus on attracting audiovisual productions in the Spanish media sector, while also offering assistance to entrepreneurs looking to establish their screen-based ventures in Spain.
As part of its mission, Shooting in Spain heavily promotes the Spain Audiovisual Bureau, a one-stop shop for companies interested in undertaking initiatives in the audiovisual sector in Spain. It is one of the key components of the strategic ‘Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe’ plan initiated in 2021 by the Spanish Government.
Elisa Garcia Grande, executive director of ICEX-Invest in Spain, puts the spotlight on the country’s position as a top shooting location with competitive tax incentives, state-of-the-art facilities and a highly skilled talent pool in production and post-production.
What financial incentives are available for international producers shooting in Spain?
Spain offers some of the most competitive financial incentives for international producers, but what really sets us apart is the overall global package we provide. Our primary incentive is a tax rebate that covers up to 30% of eligible production expenses.
Specifically, you get 30% back on the first €1m spent in Spain and 25% on any amount beyond that. What makes our offer even more attractive are the enhanced incentives available in certain regions. For example, in the Canary Islands you can receive a remarkable 54% rebate on the first €1m of expenses and 45% on the remainder. In Navarre the tax credit starts at 35%, and in the Basque Country it goes up to 60%.
