Noe ("Noechi") and Natsuko are childhood friends, born and raised in the same giant housing complex ("Danchi") that was built nearly 60 years ago. Sure, when they were young, each had a lot going on -- from marriage to success at work. Now, single and in their mid-fifties, the two have returned to the Danchi, and spend their days saying silly things over dinner to mend the wear and tear that happen in life. There is no need for pretense, because between them, every embarrassing misstep or that serious first love with a big "L" is common knowledge.
In the aging Danchi, the two are considered "young" among its residents. They help the "aunties" and "uncles" who have known them since childhood, fixing window screens and selling their old things to retro enthusiasts online. If something sells for a high price, the two celebrate by adding something just a bit pricey on the dinner menu. Meanwhile, new arrivals to the Danchi have their own reasons for moving in. Neighborly kindness still alive, this is a community that seems unchanging yet is evolving all the time.
