Nagoya TV was established in 1961. It began broadcasting in 1962 under the policy of “providing trustworthy news programs, enjoyable high-quality entertainment contents.” The station plays an important role in the twenty-four-station ANN (All Nippon News Network) network, which includes such major stations as TV Asahi in Tokyo and Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in Osaka. Nagoya TV provides a wide range of programs mainly to the prefectures of Aichi, Gifu, Mie and their surrounding areas. This means it has an audience of 4.37 million house-holds and 11.3 million viewers. It also broadcasts national programs to all the ANN network.
NagoyaTV has been aggressively developing its entertainment contents business as a main film production company of “An” which was directed by KAWASE Naomi (2015), “Harmonium” directed by FUKADA Koji (2016) which was awarded the Jury Prize of ""Un Certain Regard"" category at the 69th Cannes International Film Festival and “Asako Ⅰ&Ⅱ” directed by HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke (2018). The second collaboration with FUKADA Koji with a TV film “The Real Thing” was labeled as Cannes 2020. Furthermore in 2022 MIYAKE Sho’s “Small, Slow but Steady” was selected to the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, also FUKADA Koji’s latest film “LOVE LIFE” was selected at the 69th Venice international Film Festival.
