The Sidecar Guys (aka best mates Matt and Reece) are the only people to circumnavigate the globe on a scooter and sidecar. It’s an extraordinary feat that bagged the duo a Guinness World Record, which only the best of mates could achieve together.
Back in the saddle, this time taking on The Africa Rally, a 5000km journey across the vast African lands beyond, with a very simple goal– make it to Kenya in one combined, collective three-wheeled piece.
They wrestle their contraption across Botswana’s salt flats, chase Tanzanian sunsets through the Serengeti, witness Malawi’s most bewildering tribal ritual, and discover just how high ‘too high’ really is above the Zambezi. Sampling questionable delicacies, relying on backstreet mechanics and stumbling into unlikely encounters — all while wondering why they thought this was a good idea.
Huge potholes, roads that vanish on a whim and a machine with a mind of its own ensure every mile is unpredictable. Between the banter, near misses and mechanical meltdowns, The Side Car Guys dive headfirst into local life, sometimes needing a push — literally — to keep the sidecar moving. The dynamic of the duo is unfiltered and unmatched. Together, they journey through South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya, delivering comedy and chaos in equal measure.
It’s the absurd reality of two grown men following their noses across Africa with nothing but a map, a questionable sense of direction and a rally to complete. Not all roads lead to Kenya — can they and their temperamental three-wheeler make it in on time and in one piece?
