Alone is a raw, unique and genuinely harsh American survival competition series that has just successfully completed its 10th season on the History Channel, USA.

With no crew by their side, no producers, and everything self-shot by the participants, Alone follows the self-documented daily struggles of the 10 survival enthusiast contestants as they are challenged to survive alone in the wilderness, for as long as possible, with only a limited few items of equipment.

From the day they are dropped off and left completely on their own, participants have to fend for themselves, finding food, building shelters, enduring deep isolation, physical deprivation and psychological stress. And all at the same time as learning to live with the ever-present predators who inhabit the same space as them.

Throughout their time, they have no idea how their fellow participants are faring nor how many are still competing. It’s the ultimate test of endurance and self-examination. No other format demands such mental stamina.

With the exception of medical check-ins, the participants are isolated from each other and all other humans. They may "tap out" and leave at any time, or be removed due to failing a medical check-in.

Contestants each select just 10 items of survival gear to take from a pre-approved list of 40, and are issued a kit of standard equipment, clothing and first aid/emergency supplies.

They are also given a set of cameras to document their daily experiences and emotions. After that, they’re on their own.

The contestant who remains Alone for the longest amount of days wins a prize of $500,000.

Seasons of Alone USA have been filmed across a range of remote locations including northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Argentina, Patagonia, Northern Mongolia, Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, and Chilko Lake in British Columbia.
