Hot Properties March 2026

03-03-2026

This month’s C21 Marketplace Hot Properties playlist offers new and returning titles for buyers to enjoy, featuring dark comedies, feminist icons, deep fakes and French revolutionaries.

Kicking things off from the world of drama is a brand-new adaptation of A Woman of Substance (Banijay Entertainment), starring Brenda Blethyn as Emma Harte and Jessica Reynolds as the younger version of the iconic character, a housemaid-turned-mogul, mother, lover, fighter and 20th century feminist icon.

Created, written and directed by Bafta winner Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists, Worzel Gummidge), Small Prophets (Sphere Abacus) is a quirky comedy about a man who sets out to find his missing partner, armed only with the enigmatic guidance of miniature human-like beings known as homunculi.

Scammers suddenly become the hunted when sharp-witted seniors turn the tables in delightful crime comedy Granny Scammers (Bavaria Media International). Widowed Irene falls for a scam, but when she becomes part of a gang of lively seniors, they hatch a risky plan to get everything back – and more. Meanwhile, women from the Book of Genesis navigate love, marriage, motherhood and faith as their descendants establish Judaism, Christianity and Islam in Fox Entertainment’s The Faithful: Women of the Bible.

In factual and documentary, Deepfaking Sam Altman (Blue Ant Media) follows Los Angeles filmmaker Adam Bhala Lough, who, after failing to land an interview with the elusive Sam Altman, travels to India to deepfake the tech CEO, only to create a glitchy ‘Sam Bot’ that moves into his home, befriends his son and begins co-directing the movie.

Season two of ABC Commercial’s Dr Karl’s How Things Work follows science communicator, best-selling author and Australian of the Year nominee Dr Karl Kruszelnicki as he goes behind factory doors to see how some of Australia’s best-loved products are made.

In Cineflix Rights’ On Top of the Block, design-savvy families open their doors to a brutally honest panel of their peers to win cash, prizes and neighbourhood bragging rights, while Synchro Game (CJ ENM) is a hybrid survival game where brainpower and physical strength must operate as one system.

Back for a third season, Prue Leith opens the door to her Cotswold Kitchen (DCD Rights), cooking mouth-watering dishes and exploring the joys of her home with family and friends, both old and new. Joined by a series of guests to help with the cooking and have a chat, Prue shares her food heroes’ dishes.

In a world obsessed with spectacle, violence and power, we revisit Justine, or the Misfortunes of the Marquis de Sade (StudioFact Rights) – a tale born in a Bastille cell during the French Revolution. Through Justine’s resistance, we confront a society where cruelty thrives and justice is an illusion.

The American Declaration of Independence promised freedom for all, but who was to benefit from that freedom? Independence Dawn (Autentic Distribution) remembers the forgotten patriots who gave everything for an ideal from which they were often excluded. Meanwhile, Federation Studios dives into the exceptional world of the legendary Athos pilots of the Patrouille de France.

For the kids comes Tales From Out of Suburbia (Australian Children’s Television Foundation). Klara and Pim move to the suburbs with their mum Lucy, but their new neighbourhood isn’t what it seems. The kids face weird encounters and wondrous experiences as they struggle to stick together and adjust to their new lives.

Based on world-famous IP, with 85 million books sold in more than 50 languages, StudioCanal’s Miffy & Friends is a brand-new animated series that offers a fresh and contemporary vision of the much-loved bunny Miffy, and evolves the iconic character into a more complex, funny and engaging protagonist.

Finally, The Cul de Sac (Cake) is a live action teen sci-fi survival thriller where all the adults have mysteriously vanished, leaving their teenagers to survive alone.

That’s all for this month, stay tuned for more Hot Properties throughout the year!
