With the evenings brightening up, February’s Hot Properties playlist on C21 Marketplace presents new factual programmes, formats, dramas and kids’ shows to see you through to the spring.
This month’s Hot Properties playlist offers 16 new shows for buyers to enjoy, covering murder, mayhem, manhunts and Married at First Sight.
The world of true crime is never far from our screens, and this month is no exception. First up is Making Manson from Sphere Abacus, offering unfiltered insights into notorious killer Charles Manson. Through 20 years of exclusive unheard conversations, Manson openly talks about the infamous crimes as well as his upbringing and true feelings about ‘The Family.’
Then there’s Blue Ant Media’s The Eunuch Maker. When news broke in 2022 that a group of men were performing castrations and livestreaming them to paying customers online, journalist Marcel Theroux set out to explore this dark corner of society. Who is the Eunuch Maker? Why did he mutilate others? And why does the globe-spanning voluntary eunuch community seek castration?
The murder of Stephanie Scott by Vincent Stanford shocked Australia. For Stanford, this was just the beginning of his planned murderous agenda. Natural Born Killer? (DCD Rights) is the story of his conviction, his chilling confession, his possible involvement in other cases, and how he almost got away with it due to DNA confusion with his identical twin brother.
On a less gruesome note comes survivalist competition series Extracted, from Fox Entertainment Global. A dozen untrained competitors attempt to survive gruelling conditions in the Canadian wilderness, while their family members wait at headquarters watching them navigate their surroundings. The fate of each contestant lies in their family members’ hands. How far will their loved ones let them go for a chance to win US$250,000?
Elsewhere, ABC Commercial’s Eat The Invaders follows scientists, land carers and a world-renowned artist chef as they explore whether catching, cooking and eating Australia’s invasive species will help native wildlife.
In Tanzania, old Land Rovers are transformed into custom 4x4s for unforgettable safari adventures in Autentic Distribution’s Wheels for the Wild: Serengeti’s Master Mechanic, while Guinness World Records’ Rumeysa Walking Tall joins Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman, on her first journey to the US, where she meets other extraordinary women and shares her message of acceptance and inclusion.
Finally, Seven.One Studios International’s world-leading relationship show heads down under with Married at First Sight Australia.
For those in search of drama, we have season two of Banijay Entertainment’s Rogue Heroes. Inspired by Ben Macintyre’s best-selling factual book of the same name and created, written and executive produce by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, This Town), Rogue Heroes S2 continues recounting the origins of the world’s first special forces unit, the SAS.
Based on AA Dhand’s best-selling novels, Virdee (Cineflix Rights) follows Harry Virdee, a Bradford-based detective with a chaotic personal life who must hunt down a serial killer. When the murderer holds the entire city to ransom, Harry faces a choice: save himself and his family or save his city.
Playing Nice from StudioCanal is a riveting psychological thriller that became ITVX’s best-ever drama launch. The show is adapted from the novel by New York Times best-selling author JP Delaney and stars BAFTA nominee James Norton.
Caught in a web of deception, Ellen is branded as the very enemy she’s hunting in Viaplay Content Distribution’s Furia. She and the unyielding Asgeir race from the Arctic to the heart of Budapest and Warsaw to unravel a deadly plot and clear her name.
From the world of kids’ entertainment comes Windcatcher, from the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, in which 10-year-old Percy Boy Collins and his eclectic crew of friends outsmarts a gang of bullies to triumph at their school’s athletics carnival.
In Supertato from BBC Studios Kids & Family, a superhero potato sets out on a fun and exciting adventure as he tries to overcome the evil pea and emerge victorious every time.
Elsewhere, Sixteen South offers up Odo, a little owl with big ideas! At the Forest Camp for Young Birds, he and his best friend Doodle positively tackle every challenge, no matter how big, while Armorsaurs from Cake is an action-adventure series 65 million years in the making.
