About the Pitch
C21 has announced the winner for the C21 Global Entertainment Format Pitch in association with ITV Studios after eight projects were shortlisted to pitch live at Content London.
The winning project; Black Card, a reality competition series from Spain’s iZen Group was chosen by a panel of senior industry judges, announced by Mike Beale, MD of global creative network at ITV Studios, which sponsored the competition.
The series, aimed at adults and young adults, sees 12 contestants each given a ‘black card’ with varying amounts of money – some will have a lot and others only a little. The contestants can steal money from each other by competing in challenges, with the winner taking home the value of their card.
The partnership with ITV Studios allowed international format producers to present their projects through C21Media and Content London, providing a high-profile showcase to pitch new shows to the world. Projects selected benefited from exposure through C21Media.net as well as occupying a prominent slot at Content London.
The Global Entertainment Format Pitch is designed to discover and develop a brand new hit format in one of the following two categories: 'Primetime Entertainment' or 'Reality & Social Experiment’.
The winning pitch will receive funding to progress the idea to the next stage.
Eric Marodon, iZen’s international development exec, said Black Card caters to a “booming” demand for reality shows and a “fascination” for social experiments.
“For a reality show to be new and surprising, it must introduce novelties, both in its premise and in its narrative, to catch viewers’ attention,” he said. “With Black Card, we want to explore the mechanics of human relationships by putting an element at the centre of the game that is above love and friendship: money. Does money really change people? Or does it just reveal who they really are?”

MIX&MASH
(INDEPENDENT CREATOR)
SYNOPSIS
Polar opposite people, polar opposite talent, polar opposite music; this is the music show that doesn’t just showcase the best unrecognised talent across the country - it challenges them to be better.
Throwing the genre rule book out of the window, each of our contestants are unpredictably partnered with another. Rap meets rock, pop meets baritone and beatboxing meets barber shop. It’s the ultimate East meets West of music as a series of 24 hour studio lock-ins and live performances push our artists to their limits as they create new versions of our favourite music.
In this series our artists are not performing the same old smash hits. They are using them, their talent and new talents they learn from one another, to create new, possibly even better, mashed ones.

HOUSE OF DREAMS
(MEDIACREST ENTERTAINMENT)
SYNOPSIS
The first reality show where the contestants aren’t supposed to be genuine.
The most common complaint from reality show fans is that the contestants are not genuine, that they’re acting. Well, they can’t complain about it now… because on this show they’re supposed to be acting. Each contestant performs a role that has been especially designed for them and, as the show progresses, they have to do what their hostess, Netsie, asks of them. Everyone wants to make their life-long dream come true, but they can’t be themselves in the process. This construction of fictional characters creates the perfect cast and ensures that the show’s participants are in a state of permanent conflict. HOUSE OF DREAMS is the ultimate reality show: it generates one confrontation after the other in a masterful mix of reality and fiction.
