Karsu is a woman in an unhappy marriage. Her husband Reha, is an abusive man and useless father, so when Karsu gives birth to their third child, she realizes that she can’t take care of all children on her own. She sends her three year old son, Kuzey, to Istanbul to stay with her mother, Filiz, for a while. However, on the journey to Istanbul Kuzey goes missing. After three years of searching Karsu happens upon Kuzey on a trip to Mersin. Karsu is relieved to be reunited with her son, however, Kuzey who now goes by Deniz does not recognise her and develops an intense anger towards Karsu for trying to separate him from Ozan, a man who he now considers his father.
When Reha cheats on Karsu with her close friend on top of all, Karsu takes her children and leaves home. With nowhere else to go, she moves in with her mother, with whom Karsu has had a strained relationship.
In her mother’s neighborhood Karsu meets Atilla, a mafia man who introduces himself as a writer. While thinking Ozan will leave Karsu and Kuzey alone, he doesn’t give up on his son and tries to find a middle ground with Karsu. Ozan ends up falling in love with Karsu in the process and Karsu is split between the two men. To make matters worse, Karsu’s husband Reha, whom she is trying to divorce, has vowed to make Karsu’s life miserable. But amidst all the difficulties, Karsu’s only concern is to regain the love of her son, Kuzey, and to try to hold on to her new life.
