They were hooked by the synergy of the landscape between New Zealand and the evocative landscape of 1980’s London. The judges felt the pitch had an interesting structure with many twists and turns, which added emotional layers to keep the viewer hooked. A unanimous winner, the judges praised the pitch for its clarity whilst also having great visual elements to enhance the presentation of the story.
The Five Diaries will now receive a marketing package through C21Media worth £30,000 to support development and pre-sales of the show.
In addition, the judges identified
L/over and
The Rush, as worthy of an honourable mention.
The judges loved the title for L/over, enjoying the way it reflected the complexity and duality of the story. They thought it had compelling themes and a very relevant subject.
The Rush was praised for its ambition and global reach. The judges liked the way the project revisited history through the eyes of minority groups, giving the story a new perspective. They also felt it tapped into the holy grail of drama – appealing to both men and women.
