From constructing a compost cauldron to building a bee hotel and growing a rainbow veggie patch, there’s plenty on offer for viewers to replicate at home. Projects in Series 2 include mini succulent gardens, recycled garbage gardens, beachside terrariums, cubby houses and manure experiments.
Series 2 also dials up the fun with mini segments including Compost Critters - an imaginative comedy story world about tiny creatures living in the compost bin, Wombat’s Garden - a peek into the daily life of a family raising baby wombats on their sustainable farm, and Mindful Moments - allowing kids to share their own poems and stories about nature, and featuring beautiful macro timelapse vision of natural decomposition and growth.
Making it as relatable as possible, Gardening Australia Junior covers all manner of gardens, from the luxurious open country to the smallest balcony gardens – wherever something grows. Across the series, Gardening Australia Junior aims to inspire kids and families to roll up their sleeves and get out into the beauty and hard work of the garden.
The series also includes a vital First Nations voice through a collaboration with Aboriginal-led horticultural organisation Wildflower, and Cudgenburra/Bunjalung man Clarence Slockee. Clarence leads the young green thumbs in a Native Garden segment.
