Felicity, Amanda’s snooty mother, is played, exceptionally, by Joanna Lumley. Felicity is a snob and she's very disappointed that Amanda's moved to a rather shabby part of London which she doesn't approve of. Felicity gives Amanda an incredibly hard time – constant back handed compliments and barbed comments, but if anyone said anything rude about Amanda she would be the first to defend her. Ultimately, she loves her daughter. They’re peas from the same pod. But she seems to see showing love as a form of weakness. During the series we see the horribleness rubbed off Felicity’s edges and some kind, tender mother daughter moments between her and Amanda.
