Margaret Atwood doc travels globe

Broadcasters around the world have picked a documentary feature about the life and works Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid’s Tale, from Kew Media Distribution.

Margaret Atwood: A Word After a Word After a Word is Power (1×92’/1×78’) is produced by Canada’s White Pine Pictures and will premiere on Canuck pubcaster the CBC’s documentary channel on November 19.

London-based Kew Media Distribution is shopping the doc internationally and has sold it to broadcasters and platforms including Sky Arts in the UK and Ireland, SBS in Australia, Sky in New Zealand, NDR-Arte in Austria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland, HBO in Central and Eastern Europe, YLE in Finland, SVT in Sweden, ERR in Estonia, NTR in the Netherlands and Hulu in the US.

The documentary follows the author over 12 months, exploring her major works and delving into her youth. It is co-directed and coproduced by Nancy Lang and Peter Raymont. Peter Pearson serves as executive producer alongside Connie Littlefield as associate producer.

Attwood wrote The Handmaid’s Tale, the book upon which the Hulu drama series is based, in 1985. Her other notable works include Cat’s Eye, Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin.
