Marcus moves up at Guru

Canada’s Guru Studio has promoted executive Rachel Marcus to VP of creative development.

Marcus will lead the company’s overall development of new original IP, as well as oversee creative partnerships, coproductions and features.

Prior to joining Guru, Marcus was at kids’ network Nickelodeon, where she developed shortform linear content and interactive web experiences for Nick.com and Nick Jr.

Since joining Guru, Marcus has worked across the studio’s originals including co-creating its newest preschool series Pikwik, which will air on Disney Junior US and Hulu next year.

Its output also includes underwater adventure series Big Blue, which was greenlit by CBC in Canada, part of an expanded roster of originals.

Marcus reports to Frank Falcone, president and executive creative director, who said: “I am confident she will continue to strategically grow our IP, with the same creativity, collaboration and passion that the industry has come to expect from Guru.”
