Marathon founder steps down

The CEO and founder of Zodiak Media’s French production company Marathon Images is leaving.

Pascal Breton will be replaced by Philippe Alessandri at Marathon, the prodco behind long-running drama series Saint-Tropez.

The company, which encompasses prodcos Marathon and GTV, was founded in 1990 by Breton and Olivier Brémond, who left in 2006.

Breton has decided to pursue other projects as an independent producer but will continue to work with Zodiak Media on the new Sous le Soleil de Saint-Tropez series and international coproduction Versailles with Capa Drama.

Alessandri will add the new role to his responsibilities as CEO of Tele Images Productions, the company he formed in 1999.

Pascal Breton said: “Whilst it is never easy to leave the company one has created, and a very talented team with whom strong bonds have been created, this feels like the right time for me to develop more personal projects.”
