Maker joins up with Jukin

YouTube multi-channel network Maker Studios has entered into a strategic agreement with viral video firm Jukin Media.

Maker will collaborate with Jukin, which operates more than 30 online video channels, to manage and monetise its YouTube networks and videos, which the firm claims attract more than 400 million monthly views.

Maker, which is in the process of being bought by the Walt Disney Company, and Jukin will also coproduce a series of shows and formats using video clips from the latter’s library. They will use Maker talent and be distributed on multiple platforms, including digital services and TV.

Maker will also develop and launch a website for Jukin’s FailArmy brand, which currently offers clips of accidents and ‘fails’ via a YouTube channel.

“Our goal is to bring the best content to our audience on a global scale and Jukin Media boasts one of the most viral and compelling video libraries in the world,” said Chris M Williams, chief audience officer at Maker Studios.

“Maker clearly has the best expertise and collection of resources for helping us grow our business and brands both on and off YouTube,” said Jonathan Skogmo, founder and CEO at Jukin. “This was an obvious alliance for us and we’re very excited to get started.”
