Magnolia goes on the road with Johnnyswim

Fixer Upper

Magnolia Network, the forthcoming linear and OTT brand from US factual giant Discovery and Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, has ordered its first series.

Home on the Road (working title) is a six-episode reality show following husband and wife Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano Ramirez as they tour North America with their band Johnnyswim and their two kids in tow.

The series will air as part of the rebranded channel’s launch slate of programming for its October 2020 debut, taking over from DIY Network.

It comes after a trio of execs was appointed last month to work across Magnolia Network, which is led by former HGTV chief Allison Page as president.

The joint venture between Discovery and the Gaines’ Magnolia shingle was first mooted last year and the network will be home to the complete library of Fixer Upper.

Produced by High Noon Entertainment, Fixer Upper was one of the break-out shows for home improvement reality network HGTV, then owned by Scripps Networks Interactive. Scripps has since been taken over by Discovery.
