M6 picks up Gaumont manga toon

French broadcaster M6 has picked up a new kids CGI animation show based on manga character Lanfeust of Troy.

Lanfeust Quest (26×30′) has been produced by France’s Gaumont Animation and India’s DQ Entertainment and is aimed at kids aged 6-11. The show, which will start airing on M6 later this month, has also been acquired by Lagardere’s Canal J.

The action/adventure show follows 14- ear-old Lanfeust who is in charge of protecting Planet Troy, with his voice being performed by French presenter Alex Goude.

Pierre Belaïsch, MD of Gaumont Animation, said: “We have worked with incredible talents adapting the mangas’ rich universe and putting this first series together.”

Gaumont and DQE will be presenting the show to buyers at Mipcom for the first time next month.
