Luo Bao Bei heads around Europe

Luo Bao Bei is written by Dave Ingham

MIPTV: Multiple broadcasters in Europe have acquired the Chinese animated series Luo Bao Bei from the international distribution arm of Canada’s 9 Story Media Group.

France Télévisions, Canal Panda in Spain and Portugal, Clan in Spain and SVT in Sweden have picked up the 52×11′ series from Dublin-based 9 Story Distribution International. Netflix has also taken global second window rights to the show.

Other broadcasters to take the series include True Visions in Thailand and Hop! in Israel, following in the footsteps of Channel 5 in the UK, ABC in Australia and E Junior in the United Arab Emirates.

9 Story holds global distribution and merchandising rights, excluding China. The show follows Luo Bao Bei, a spirited seven-year-old girl with a vivid imagination, on a quest to understand the world around her.

Aimed at children aged four to eight years old, it launched last month on state-owned CCTV in China and is produced by Magic Mall Entertainment, having been created by Magic Mall’s Grace Tian.

The toon was directed by Adam Bailey and Tong Lijun, produced by Ma Lin and Jon Rennie, with Dave Ingham (Shaun the Sheep, Octonauts) as head writer. Cloth Cat Animation in Wales was commissioned for the animation.
